Kellster, the guy who made the knife you're talking about is Jack Crain. Bad thing is, if you do a search on his name in this forum you will find that he ripped off quite a few people not delivering knives ordered. He was a great knifemaker at one time but I think the movie success went to his head.
Also, while I definitely agree with the 2 posters that Dan Winkler makes great knives, he was not the primary knifemaker for "Last of the Mohicans". He made 1 knife and that one was reworked by the propmaster Mr. Morgan. Most of the other knives in the movie were made by Randall King.
BTW, there was a boxing movie a few years ago called "Gladiators" with Cuba Gooding and Brian Dennehy. One of the bad guys used a Spyderco Mariner. Was the first time I saw one flicked open by holding onto the hole. It was cool.
