I'm looking to buy this knife and I am seeking more information on it and its value. I'm a Colorado native and having something like this excites me.

As you know, Western has been sold a couple times over the years. I've seen some of those selling for well under $100. I suggest looking at the bay and see what they're selling for. But it comes down to what it's worth to you...if you would enjoy it because it comes from your hometown, then it doesn't matter the market value, it's your value.

Welcome. You need to have a gold membership to ask about knife values. Please review the stickies pertaining to knife values.

Welcome. As said, you have to upgrade to ask value. As to the rest of your query, Western made some good knives, but were not expensive. If it is an older one it may be more interesting. What I like about this knife is the leather stacked handles. If that knife is in good shape and is not pricey I would be tempted by it.

Sticky threads, at the top of the thread listing on the forum page. Specifically, this thread. Also good to review the others.

As for your knife, the blade's definitely not pristine but it appears to be mostly full and you can probably buff out some of the scratches if you so desire. The handle looks intact and overall it seems like it would make an excellent user, though the guard may call for some TLC as well as any active oxidation that might not be pictured. This knife appears to be from before the Camillus ownership days; the tang stamp places it somewhere in the range of 1935-1950, give or take. I can't speak to the originality of the sheath but it looks like a fine fit. All told, for a 65-80 year old knife, it's in remarkable shape. As long as you don't feel like you'd be getting snookered, it might be an excellent pickup.

WHAT IS MY KNIFE / GADGET / SPATULA / TUNING FORK WORTH ?

In order to curtail potential abuse of membership privileges associated with the forums, questions regarding valuation of knives and collections are limited to those with a membership level which permits selling on this site. Accordingly,*registered and basic members may not start or post in threads with such requests whether with the intent to sell or for informational purposes only. This rule applies throughout the site.

In other words, without a paid Gold membership, you don't get to ask about sale values. Too many people abused this question to hint they had a knife for sale, which you need that membership for.

The knife itself is what I would call an Americanized puukko, a real woodsman's knife. Camping, hunting, fishing, it's hard to find a better all-purpose design.
