Wanting to be a maker...

Hey y'all,

On book recommendations, I would highly suggest The Wonder of Knifemaking, and The $50 Knife Shop, both are written by Wayne Goddard. They are very good books and I have learned more from them than any other books I have read on the subject. The Barney/Loveless book gives a simple overview, but I found it to be sorely lacking in some serious how-to details. The Allen Blade videos are nice if you have a Grizzly grinder.

In my opinion, Ericson says it all. Don't be afraid to make mistakes. Learn from them. Seems like I have a box of profiled steel that I thought at one time was the "perfect" knife. In retrospect, they are because I can see and touch the mistake I made that required that blade to be placed in the box. Hopefully, I learn from the mistake and improve my product. Just do it!

I'd be happy to teach you knifemaking.

I'm not a maker, BUT, I did sleep at Comfort Inn last night.
