WAR RENDEZVOUS “WAR” Labor Day weekend 29 Aug –1 Sep 2008 (Friday thru Monday)

We are pleased to announce that we're going to be having our third annual fall rendezvous! We now have two annual rendezvous, WAR and PEACE. Our spring (PEACE) rendezvous had 51 folks here. We will have seminars and demonstrations. Some seminars we are planning are Fire making, Survival Kits, Flint Knapping, Pack Basket Making, Emergency crisis Management, Wilderness First Aid and more. We're also planning some competitions: fire starting, sling shot, primitive cooking contest, duels, Mountain John dart contest and air rifle contests. We’re also planning a potluck supper for Sunday night.
We will also have a huge give-away including lots of Knives, First Aid kits, Survival supplies and more and as usual we will be giving away a free course at our wilderness survival school.
Every evening we'll have a huge campfire for everyone to enjoy. And of course a rendezvous isn't complete without a Trade Blanket (swap meet), so you can bring any outdoor/camping/survival related stuff you'd like to sell or trade. We have a huge 50-acre field where folks can set up their tents. Campers are welcome but we have no electrical or water hookups. We do have toilet facilities. You can bring your own camp stoves or barbecue grills or you can use one of the fire pits. Light drinking is allowed. This is a FREE, family friendly event so please bring all your loved ones and friends. Friendly dogs are always welcome. The dates for this event will be 29 Aug –1 Sep, 08 (Labor Day weekend). We certainly would welcome those of you who wish to come a day early (Thursday, 28 Aug). You can come for any or all of the days. We'll be posting more detailed information on our website www.weteachu.com (on our Newsletter page on www.weteachu.com) as it becomes available. We'll keep you posted here as well. We're very excited about having our third Annual WAR get together with old friends and meeting new ones. Hope many of you can make it cause we'd sure like to meet some more of you good folks! Please contact us by the 5th of Aug so we can get an accurate count. Use e-mail (wlcwe@localnet.com)), PM, phone (518-497-3179 or US Mail.
Any new updates will be posted.

I am trying to talk the Warden into actually going with me on this one. We shall see.
I will talk to Wes as well.

WOW!
Just 13 days to go. I don't have an accurate count yet from 5 different forums but it looks like it will probably be around 60+ folks. Some folks are arriving on Wednesday afternoon.

Marty, since we have this up in the "Calendar of Events" thread with a link to this one, I'm going to unsticky it now. Feel free to bring it back to the top anytime you wish as it leads on up to the event!

Hayseed is doing another dutch oven class and has asked anyone who wants to join in to bring their dutch oven and do a group cookoff. Adirondack is going to try to get a roadkill deer from DEC to do a butchering class. He is also going to do a blood trail class.
