This is perfect. Exactly what I was hoping for when they released it. Keeps me from buying an F1. Certainly could take some of that market share if the shop offered it. Better steel, better handle and much tougher with the thicker blade.

I got some use in on her from cutting cardboard for the wood stove to feed bags for the animals. She is a solid performer works amazingly well on all that I used her for. My biggest gripe about the knife was the choil snagging material and not having one single use other than ease of sharpening. So it just had to go, the war dog was a nice knife now its a amazing knife in my opinion! I'm already thinking of modding more of my res c knives;)

I love it. Now just backfill that hollow grind and that will be one awesome knife.

that isn't a hollow ground hack and I wouldn't have any trouble sharpening it. if you are worried about scratching your res-c, maybe Dan can cook up a pink batch of replacement handles

If all Hacks are not hollow ground I stand corrected but that is all I have held. Many like a small sharpening choil at a minimum b/c it does make the blade easier to sharpen w/o getting on anything else.

Your sarcasm would be easier to gather if you worked on the grammar. Just saying...

That's not a HACK, those were put out by Busse, that's a War Dog ( still infi) but put out by ScrapYard, they are full convex ( I believe)

Very nice work BTW, I though about doing the same thing. Is there a gap about the blade where it enters the res-c?

Mine is a sort of FFG but with a zero convex edge.

And that mod looks awesome. The only thing is that I actually have found a use for the choil and that is that it's an EXCELLENT place to strike a ferro rod.

How are you going to sharpen the edge directly in front of the grip without doing a number on it?
A belt sander or paper wheels will make short work of the grip, and a bench stone will make it close to impossible to sharpen that area without causing some grip damage. Crock sticks, whether round or triangular, will make contact with the grip and create a void next to the edge, which will preclude sharpening.

An edgepro stone will only do damage to the grip if you let it come into contact. Chances are your not going to be able to get a material into the last 1mm of edge at the grip anyways, with a minute motion it will cut itself by sliding forward. Even still, that portion of the grip is not terribly important unless you want your knife to look pristene. What little damage your going to do with the corner/edge of an apex stone will be minimal scuffing, even if done repeatedly.

As most seem to like to use the mouse pad method for sharpening convex edges this will work quite well if you do it on the edge of the table
