My favorite games are first person shooters. Probably Gears of War and Halo 2. I like the futuristic games best. But while waiting for Halo 3, I have been teleporting back to WWII.

Anyone else playing these?

The Outfit. The more bad guys you kill, the more points you get. The RTS component of The Outfit, or "Destruction on Demand," is what makes the game unique. Running around and putting crosshairs on bad guys is important, but just as central to success is knowing when and where to call in airdrops of vehicles, artillery, machine-gun nests, extra infantry, or just a good old-fashioned mess of bombs. It's all purchased with points acquired by blowing up bad guys.

Some funny lines (do get a bit old) like when your re-inforcements are landing, "Finally, some men with balls like mine!"

Call of Duty 2 and COD3. Amazing graphics, particularly in COD3.

I just got a 360 the other day so I am just beginning to play the new generation games. I have Ghost Recon AWF and its pretty sweet so far. I also have lost planet but havent played it yet so my review is pending.

The Medal of Honor games are pretty good, too- in one, you're smuggled onboard a U-boat in a crate. Breaking loose, you run through the boat with an MP-40, and a Nazi cook attacks you with a butcher knife in the galley.

Do wish there was a good WWII submarine sim like Silent Hunter for the Xbox- or a B-17 bomber sim. :p 8,456,326 car racing games, though.

I miss Atari.. not really but at least I could play it. I bought my step-son a game, and it came with an instruction manual that looked like a JCPenny winter catalog. yikes.

We bought these little joysticks with pre-programmed games like Ms.Pacman, Galaxa, Pole Position and a few others for less than $10. I remember when having those was like having the new Xbox.

I did play Shogun one time. Oh man, I liked that. But I played until 4am in the morning, and realized the next day that would not necessarily be a healthy obsession, for me anyways.. but who knows. War of the Worlds and strategy games sound interesting.

My brother bought me a 360 and a few games. Been playing Gears of War. The game is great but that last guy is real hard to beat. I think next time I'm bringing something besides machine guns!

Thanks for the heads up on The Outfit. I hadn't heard of it.

Good game. A lot of fun.

in Gears of War, you can beat the last guy, Boss Raam if you throw grenades at him. Grenades will damage him and make the the Kryll fly away, then shoot him in the face about 4 or 5 times with the sniper rifle. You can not hurt him when the kryll are shielding him except with the grenades.

You will find grenades and sniper rifle in the last car right before you go after him. Forget the other weapons on this guy. Won't work. Oh, yeah, stay in the light or the kryll will get you.

I hate it when kryll gets me...need a whale shark character I guess.

I've struggled to get to General RAAM and finally did it last night. On the lesser difficulty I used Torque Bow and shotgun to finish him off. If you hold the Bow on him until the reticule turns orange the harpoon penetrates and does more damage. Even if the Kryll are swarming over him.
On insane I've had no luck with the Bow and the shotgun. I've tried the sniper and am not good enough to get a fast reload. Jamming a single shot, bolt action sniper rifle ends up not being a good stratgey against RAAM.

WWII type shooters try 'Return to Castle Wolfenstein' Not a historical game. Lots of occult types going on and a Nazi "Frau Blucher" characther with her retinue of hot. leather clad, blonde body guards.

GoW is still the single most addicting game I have ever played. I put it down for about 3 weeks while I played a few other games, but the guys and I set up a room and ran with it for about 3 hours friday night (wife wasn't too happy about that one;)).
Other combat games that are pretty good, Ghost Recon Advanced War Fighter (GRAW). The bummer about that game is that the lobby system SUCKS. It was a perfect clan game except for the fact that you couldn't clan up easily:confused: However, there is another heaping helping of GRAW coming out around March that actually went into production before the first one shipped, so look for a lot of new neat stuff. Hopefully a fixed lobby system.
Another game coming out is called Army of Two. Basically, you are mercs. Obviously, it's going to be very much about co-op like GoW. However, they take it to a new level. You will be required to do a lot of tactics involving team lifting to make cover and back to back firing. I even saw one clip where when your buddy is injured, you grab him by the scruff and drag him out of there while he fires back at the enemy covering the six:D This too is suppose to ship march-ish.

Jake,

How does the multiplayer in GoW work? I have not even tried to play it. My last multiplayer game was TRIBES. And the kid players whomped me good! I did have a few macro insults set up, however.

Can you and a buddy go up against the roaches or locusts or whatever in the hell they are?

I am a sniper, not a Rambo.

It works two ways, Bill. First of all, you can co-op the story mode and actually play the game all the way through with a friend while talking on your headsets. This REALLY helps when taking out Raam. If you have friends on your list with the game, just start up the game anywhere through out the single player mode and send them a game invite. They will take over as Dom. Try not to do it during a firefight, as it takes a few seconds for them to wake-up as Dom.;)
Or....my favorite is to just play via xbox live. You will enter a room where it is 4 on 4 Cogs Vs Locasts. It is just a deathmatch style of play. You and your team mates communicate via your headsets to try to out flank and out blast the other team. There are a few different game modes, but the most popular are Warzone (where you can shoot the other team, drop them, and they will bleed out if someone from their team does not revive them) and Execution (where you can drop the other players from across the map, but you have to be right up on them to finish them off or else they will revive themselves in a few seconds).
The maps are small and mirrored so they are easy to learn. As far as I know, there aren't any "cheap" spots to hide where you can't get hit, etc. Oh, and don't worry, unless they are turned off pretty much every map has a sniper rifle;)

The multiplayer beta launches this spring and there are two ways left to get it: buy Crackdown™ or be one of the first 13,333 to complete the "Rule of Three".,, OUCH,,:o
