I am starting a new job next week:D in a warehouse, picking orders, etc. I need a knife with a blade no longer than 3", easy open with a respectable lock (liner lock??). Belt clip required.

I've been away from the knife scene for a while and I have no clue whats out there. I would be partial to Spyderco, but have used other quality brands over the years.

Like to hear some suggestions.

Thanks in advance

Forgive me for making a suggestion that does not meet your belt clip required criteria. I was a warehouse monkey for years and used a Stanley retractable blade box knife. Blade gets dull you just put a new one in. Retract it all the way and stick it in your hip pocket. Just something to consider.

For a smaller blade, Sypderco Navigator, if you can find one, or take a look at the HK/Benchmade 14210.

I have the older Navigator w/aluminum handle. It's nice and small, and fits well in the hand.

I don't have the 14210, but it's on my "to get" list.

Then there are the Benchmade mini-Griptillians. Cabela's sells a D2 steel version, and Aeromedix sells a version with a different blade profile in S30V. These are also on my "to get" list.

Good luck choosing.

I'd suggest a full flat grind. The Calypso jr. and Caly 3 are both great suggestions. The Caly Jr. comes in ZDP if you want long edge retention and the Caly 3 comes in VG-10 (and ZDP for a much higher price) if you don't want to worry too much about the sharpening problems.

I'd probably go with the Caly 3 VG-10.

Here's another  for the Delica waved.

Very handy for when your hands are full.

What about one of those folding utility knives like the SuperKnives?

+1 on the superknives
cooler than your average boxcutter:thumbup:

Mine is not "superknife" brand but Husky (Home Depot?)

Spyderco stainless steel Cricket! Or Spin. Maybe a Dragonfly.
For big bucks you could get the new etched version of one of these three.

Waved Delica is very handy if you have busy hands, however if you want the box cutter on steroids, try to track down a Spyderco Dodo.

another vote here for the delica 4 waved.... very handy when you have only one free hand .

I work in a warehouse that carrys motorcycle parts. I have to cut alot of banding and tape. I use a CRKT M16-04 with a plain edge and have had good luck with it although for banding a serrated edge works really well.
