I wanted to share a design with you.It is along the same sheath concept & functional features from the Combatchet thread, such as,A saw, wire breaker notch, oxygen wrench slot, pry bar, slotted screwdriver, 2 location lanyard holes.A sorta companion to the Combatchet.I call it the Warlock. Hope you like it.:D

Dave,It's all your fault I'm loving the CAD software!:eek:53 designs to be exact!:D

Mike,Hold on and enjoy the ride!;)

Frank,The wire breaker notch is on the outside profile near the pry bar.You see it?:D

Made a few changes this morning.

I canted the saw upward to widen the blade slightly.
More aggressive traction notches on handle profile.
Tweaked around with the sheath profile.
Deleted the fuller groove,Just too busy on there.

Incorporated seat belt cutter forward of saw,Also cutter access slot in sheath.

Rick,

I may have missed it but what are the dimensions on that knife? Total length?

Thanks,

Paul

Hey Rick, a couple of things now that I have had some time to think on it...

1. If this is gonna be a true survival knife, I would do away with the saw on the back of the blade, as it would get in the way of battoning through anything (this is the main method used for cutting through large pieces of wood, if ya didin't know already!!).

2. How thick will the knife be? Again, for a survival knife, I wouldn't go less that 3/16th of an inch, as this will allow for really good toughness.

3. Thinking about diferentialy tempering? It would be a good idea, as this should increase the toughness and durability.

4. The incorperation of the seat belt cutter is a fantastic idea!!

For whatever it is worth, that is all I have for now!

I really like the big belly on this one! :D

Frank,I incorporated the saw on the knife design because I felt chopping capability is limited.I'll play around without saw,No promises.;)

I think 1/4" material should give it enough mass.

Looking at differential heattreat for this one also.

I figured the seat belt cutter might come in handy!

I patterned the blade belly from my belly!;)

Frank,Thanks for your input.

I must admit that I have not been a big fan of the tatical/survivor/alien meets godzilla style of knives.
But, this and the hatchet are really cool designs.

How do you do that so good? I have QuickCad, but it's nothing special. Is there like a curved line tool, or something?

Patrick,Thanks.I've always wanted to do some do it all tools that the troops might use in combat.

Mike,I use the hell out of 3 point arc.Hope that helps.;)
