I wanted to do some hard use testing with my Cold Steel knife, to see how the Carbon V steel and the lock would hold up. So I went to a junk yard, picked out a car, and went to town on it.
First I carved a slit in in the door by the handle. It took some force and some side-to-side movement, but I was able dig a gash about 3" long.
Next I wanted to do some torquing to see if the blade would snap, or the lock would fail under rotational stress.
Then I went to the roof of the car, to see if I could stab it all the way through like you see in the movies. But the metal must have been thicker there, because all it made was a tiny little hole, not even all the way through.
And that's when the lock failed on me. Because the knife didn't go through, the lock failed, the blade folded, right down on my index finger, severing it between the knuckles.
Luckily, they were able to sew it back on, but I can't show a picture of that because I can't take the bandages off for a while.
