Warning: RAT FIREKIT STEEL

2 inches seems kind of short. Are there any problems with holding it and trying to get a spark?

I could really have a smart-ass answer for that question based on other posts above, but......

The rods are intended to be used with our Fire Kit, but we do sell them individually. They're short but it's pretty easy to get a fire with one of these, even at that length.

Remember it's not the length but how you use it that matters. :D

Yeah, us guys... errr... uhhhh... the guys with short tools have a lot of sayings like "It ain't how deep you plow, it's how long you stay in the field". :p

Are the individual rods longer than the ones going in the fire kit? If so do you have any longer than that?

Ha!!! This is great!

I have one of these rods, mines a bit longer though. I think its the best firestarter I have used. Dont last as long as the ferocium ones, but all it takes is one good strike. More controlable too!

All right, someone has to, so I will. I too admit to using a fire steel in a car. :o Got a new ferro rod and the first thing I do at a stop light was strike it. Nothing. I give a good second strike and holy cow, I was slapping my right leg all to heck. No holes, but I had to be close, I laughed for five minutes wondering what the cars beside me thought was going on. :D

I will not try that again.

Mine involved the fiancee in the car. She goes: "What so special about this one?" After two tries she finally ignites a sliver..vump.

OK....I know now that when I do receive my misch metal fire starter/RAT fire kit... not to use it in my Truck,or on my clothes and for sure not in the house.... Sounds like Jeff needs to make a disclaimer... state outdoor use only...See how learning can be fun .
