I'm sure you have all heard it before.... "Don't send cash in the mail!" Well I've heard it too, but I do it often. Because? It is easier for me and who isn't happy when they open something and it is full of cash? Well the problem this time was, it was empty! Supposedly there were no signs of tampering. Unfortunately I can not blame nor suspect anyone for this. I am to blame for sending cash. So heed my warning. Don't send cash in the mail!

Darn good advice. It justs takes once to learn a very valuable lesson. Sorry this happened to you. I sure hope it wasn't a huge amount of money.

I hope it wasn't much money. I've sent small amounts of cash through the mail figuring if I lose it one out of ten or twenty times it'll still cost me less than buying money orders, but I'd never send more than I'm willing to lose....

My mother sends me money for Christmas and my birthday.

Maybe I will show her this thread.

Thanks for posting, but sorry it happened. :(

I put in a career with the postal service. I have a lot of respect for the basic honesty of our people there. But when I send money or a check or a money order, I send it either inside a business envelope that you can't see through, or with a sheet of paper wrapped around it like a note, or even inside a greeting card. This eliminates some of the temptation, keeping the goodies covered up.

I am sorry your trust wasn't met with corresponding honesty along the way.

I wonder how they took the money? The bad guys seem to be dumb as a post about regular things. However, when it comes to thievery, the bad guys are sharp as a tack! Sorry you lost your money. I too am guilty of sending small amounts of money in a card or something like that.

the only time i ever sent cash in the mail was to baghera for some scouting fund raising products....he had already sent the goods and left explicit instructions as to how he wanted to be paid....otherwise i say its not such a hot idea to send cash in the mail

I learned at a very early age in life (around 10) that sending cash thru the mail just doesnt work. Send a personal check and wait for it to clear at worst, but dont give thieves an opportunity!:(
