**Warning**

Yea and the sellers location is London, England.
Good luck getting your money back if that would go bad...

Yep, looks like a rip-off artist at work. The ad looks exactly like the original ad, which ended at $4050, and did not meet the reserve. Also beware of sellers that keep bidders names private, as you cannot email them to warn them about this...

Funny, the seller states on all his prior transactions his address is from Colorado. On this one he states the *item* is in the UK. I'm suspicious, but there maybe more to it than appearances show. You say this was previously listed and then it DIDN'T sell? So, it is still needing a buyer from some other seller? Hmmmm.

At any rate, *I'm* not bidding....

I don't blame you one bit, It is odd, the items the seller has been selling in the past is Coupons. Now all of sudden their selling a 4,000 dollar knife. big jump, I have to wonder if this is one of those identy theft deals they have go on from time to time. Other seller smart enough to put reserve so wouldn't sell for less than a certain amount, this seller doesn't care what it goes for just send money as soon as auction is over---yeah right--Exact Same Picture---but if you didn't know about the other auction you might not be suspicious at all, 100% feedback rating, I have bought stuff on there and took chances on the 0 feedback sellers and mostly have been pleased but have been reamed too so good with the bad, Does seem to need a little more investigation in my opinion.

The only, and I mean only, thing that would even give me pause to think that this *might* be ok is the following line in that auction: "The seller ended this listing early because the item is no longer available for sale."

It didn't end without meeting reserve, it was ended by the seller. Does that mean he got a good offer and decided to go off Ebay to save on the fees?

Without knowing that for sure, I wouldn't touch this auction for any reason.

I wouldn't touch it either. The current auction has all the bidder names private, so no one can even contact them.
No way would anyone on these forums, or anyone that collects or sells knives, would start a Loveless knife auction at $1.00 with no reserve (Unless you were at the Blade Show, or similar venue).
I sent both item numbers to eBay Fraud with a note last night. Lowlife... :grumpy:

OK, I dug a little deeper. I sent him a note. Let's find out what's up:

"OK, I'm curious. This knife was just listed and closed without meeting reserve by another seller entirely. Why are all your transactions from CO and this item is in the UK? I'm very interested, but I'm no fool. Can you explain? This looks suspicious, but I'd like to be proven otherwise.

Many thanks,

Coop (Bladework)"

According to the listing the seller will take a personal check. Right. Well, that's what he'd get from me... :p

Better yet,
someone rattle the guy's chains by asking him for pics that he CANNOT produce, and then say that you'd be willing to pay a lot of money for it, but you need more pics for authentication. Hehe.....

I know the original seller personally. He had the knife posted on the original auction and ended the auction early when a a buyer offered to purchase the knife along with several others not listed for sale.
After the auction was ended the bidders started receiving "second chance" offers to buy the knife from someone claiming to be the original seller. This,,I believe,, was the same guy who is trying to sell the Knife now(a knife he does not have)

One of you that is familiar with the history of the knife or original seller might want to report this auction to eBay. You might save a sucker (fellow forum member?) a lot of grief by reporting your thoughts:
-click on the Security Center link at the bottom of the page,
-then the "report a problem" button
-Report a listing policy violation, Copying of your listing, text and picture copied.

Ebay is likely to notify the "seller" that they are watching the auction and it might make the guy "bail out"

It's nice to see concern like this.

I reported all the information yesterday to eBay. I've got a feeling eBay will not act on it. I was thinking about running up the bidding to about $1M, then seeeing the seller respond to that...It's not like he can hold me to an auction for an item he hasn't got ;)

Also, the guy removed Paypal as a payment method. Click on Bid History, then "revised". This is also not a good sign, as Paypal has some recourse. The guy only accepts check or money order now. Looks like a guaranteed method to lose your money.

Just sent a note to the current high bidder telling him about this thread. My good deed for the weekend

Here's a copy of the question I sent out of boredom to see what happens:

Would you happen to have pics showing the other side of the knife and sheath? Also, do you have a close up showing the Loveless seal/ blade markings on the hilt? I missed this the first time around and really would like to get it this time.

As far as I know, there are no Loveless markings on the hilt. Odds are his camera is 'broken' or he just won't reply at all.
