Hi,
I have been making knives for about 4 years now. Just the past couple of months I have been having a real bad issue with warping. Not just in the quench but also during normalizing. I can actually watch the blade warp while its heating up in the forge. I will bring it out, hammer it straight, and put it back into the fire only to see it start warping again. This happens over and over again until I finally get tired of it and quench it anyway. I will usually hand straighten it to some extent right out of the quench and then clamp it to a file while its tempering. I haven't changed anything that I know of in the last couple months from what I have been using / doing in the past. I use mainly 1095 and damascus steels and heat treat with a propane forge. Any ideas as to what is going on?
