Warping wood on Hinderer Vintage

@ScooterG I keep thinking about getting the fixed blade. It might be ok due to the screw placement and the overall thickness of the scale.

I rigged a contraption using a five pound dumbbell and let it sit overnight to see if I could get the wood to bend back a bit. Will check status later today.

Heard back from Hinderer and since it is a natural wood, it is not covered under warranty. My attempt to bend it back worked a little but there is still a gap. I can live with it.

I used have a buck 55 with walnut....not dymondwood, just walnut. left it in my truck for long time more than a couple years. did the same thing as yours. the buck was pinned not screwed though. I figured it was from summertime heat and high humidity then winter time cooler and bit drier. over and over. no real harm other than visual.

i gifted it to a coworker who wanted it and didnt mind. hes been using for while now. doesnt bother him. could have glued it didnt bother, but that would have worked I expect.

I know this is an older thread but I ran across it researching the Hinderer Vintage knives. I’ve got a Vintage Emmett that I’d like to carry but I‘m very hesitant due to the scales. I’d love to get micarta scales for it but Hinderer isn’t selling them.
