Warranty for Custom Shop Knife

Hi I'm new here, and I would like to know whether the warranty applies to Custom Shop knives as well?

I have bought a HOGFSH from the Exchange recently, and I think some guy from Fedex scratched the handle of the knife while they were doing the custom clearance.
So when I received it, there were a lot of scratch marks on the G10 handle, some are light scuffing, while others are deep scratches.

I understand that this does not qualified as MAJOR damage but those ugly marks on the handle pretty much disfigure such a a beautiful knife.

Can I send it back to the shop for a refurb? and anybody know what's the email address for Custom Shop?

Below is a photo of one side of the handle, the other side has only one scrtach, but it's deep one

All Busse knives have the same warranty, custom shop or regular production.

I have to wonder though, what in hell the customs guys did to that handle to scratch G-10 like that!

Sorry that happened. The very best thing to do in a situation like this is call Busse on Monday and talk to Amy or one of the other amazing Busse ladies. http://www.bussecombat.com/ordering/index.shtml Explain what happened and they will let you know the best course of action.
And don't be worried, Busse has the BEST customer service of any company I've ever dealt with.

Do you know if any of the scratch's were there before it was shipped?

Don't see how the customs guy could have done that to G-10:confused:

Like Lazlo said, just call the Shop Tuesday.

Sorry to here about your bad luck.

Thanks guys, really appreciate the help, since I'm not from US, I think emailing Busse will be the best choice, I can only hope this kind of damage is qualified for a reburb.

Elen, I'm not sure if it was by the customs, since it could also be those Fedex guys who decided to play with it while they were doing the clearance, but I did give Fedex a call, and they told me they will investigate it

I spent 80 bucks to get this beauty shipped by Fedex, and this sort of service certainly isn't what I was looking for from one of the world's most famous shipping contractors.

ken44, I have seen pics of the knife before it was shipped, it was certainly mint untill it got damaged, the G10 slabs are very smooth, and someone could easily scratch it with a pen knife or something, but why they did that is beyond me

I hate to say it but if Busse did fix it and sends it back to you what will you do if it happens again? Were you planning on using it anyway or was it going to sit on a shelf.

I'm not going to use it, it was suppose to be a birth present for my brother, but now I guess I can only save it for his next birthday

As for will it happen again, I doubt so, because I will never use GXG again, so no Fedex, and I will be doing the custom clearance myself.

That does suck. If your going to try to fix it yourself I would talk to Busse first before you do and see what they recommend sanding the handles with.

Maybe all you need is some wet and dry sand paper and wet sand it, but I dont know:confused:

Send it in my friend with return postage and we will make it pretty again!

Nice score!

Congrats!

This is one of the main reasons I love these knives, the best customer service of any knife company I have ever seen or heard of.
That is awsome Boss
I really enjoy calling the shop and talking to the ladies of Busse too

Sorry they(fed ex) messed it up, but glad all is going to be fine.

What service!!! try and see if a Owner of any major production knife company will assure your knife is made Perfect!!!! no questions asked!! Awesome!!! Just shows you what it takes to be on top!!

Get a little breathing mask like a doctor wears, go outside on a nice day with a piece of 400grit sandpaper and rub at the scratches freehand and they will be gone in minutes. Seriously, it would cost you like two dollars and less than a half hour of effort. Don't waste your time and money, man.

i agree but, most people are not really eager to sand on expensive knives. People who do feel like it's no big deal, but most people have to bring themselves to that point slowly!!!!

I totally understand that.

I dove in because I called the Busse shop asking about a handle mod, and Garth pretty much told me it would a lot easier and less expensive if I did it myself. He told me what grit to use, and that it would be an easy mod, so I took his word for it.

Here are the results.

It took about two hours by hand. G-10 is really easy to sand. I'm very confident that he could easily remedy the issue on his own and save a lot of grief.
