I had some problems with my CRKT 3" PE Crawford/Kasper, and I've sent it in for repairs, along with a letter indicating that I need to have:
- the screws for the clip replace and locktited
- replace the bearing between the safety and the blade because it has broken off before i've even touch the pivot
- recenter the blade
Somehow those warranty guys forget to do many of the above. They didn't replace the screws and the barings, but have recentered the blade so that it's no longer rubbing (the C/K is kinda hard to center in the first place)
Well I phone them up, and they're willing to send the parts because I just don't want to pay for another shipping and be without another knife....
Just need to vent, please comment.
PS on a high note, i've requested some other parts for the F4, and they haven't seen the condition (it was the brass looking threads for the scales to be held together that cracked) and they gladly sent a new set to me.

Sorry to hear of your experience, you shouldn't have had to send it back to them in the first place, the fact that you had to ask them to put it right twice certainly doesn't say much for their customer service. It's good that they sent you the parts for your F4, but then again it was in their best interests to do that (they just have to ship a few parts instead of having to mend your knife then ship it). At least they did put everything right in the end. :)

It's great that they will send you parts. Benchmade on the other hand will NOT send parts, even if you offer to pay for them. Very annoying since I need a replacement back spacer for my mini AFCK.

I've never had a problem with CRKT as far as warranty work goes. They always make it right on the first time. You can e-mail me for more details or the name of the person in charge of warranty work.

Well the thing is Carrie Trujillo (the lady who handled my warranty at the first place) thought that the screws were replace and stuff, so it must have been carelessness in part of the Warranty service, she immediately send me to Patrick who ran the production and he suggested I either send it to him and he'll handle it personally, but I declined because I just didn't want to pay for the shipping.
So the customer service did handle it quickly and quite well, it's just whoever did the QC at the warranty department need to wake up from his little nap.

The linerlock on my m16/14 started to fail. I called them and they said " send it to us and we will just replace it". So I did and they did. Total turnaround time about 3 weeks..........

I had a problem with my M-16,e-mailed CRKT and Carrie responded. She told me to return the knife, and she would send me another one the next time they did a run of them. A month or two later,I had a brand spankin new knife arrive at my door.
A plus in my book, even through i had to wait.

Mine was a 2 1/2 week turnaround...
But the main thing is now I won't have to worry about those stupid stripped screws... they're coming soon enough.

I've had to return 3 or 4 knives to them, and each time they were very helpful. However, 2 of the replacements they sent were defective also. They were very apologetic and nice about the whold thing so, it didn't really bother me too much. I think that their CS is excellent but their products need work.

CRKT having warranty probs?
Chesapeake Knife & Tool, the leading knife dealer where I live, will replace any problematic CRKT over the counter, no questions asked. They don't do this with any other brand. They send the customer's busted one back to CRKT and CRKT replaces it for their stock.

I sent in a "Tighe Tac" with a broken tip to see if they could/would regrind it. They sent me a brand new one. Very happy. Best service ever was from Spyderco. Someone called me at home to make sure I was happy with everything, and that just rocks! Perhaps A new thread on who is best or worse customer service? Probably have to be in GBU.....

I was probably just unlucky, but I'm not blaming the CS because they thought the idiot in the warranty did do his job.

Given that we see come CRKT products selling on the net for really ridiculous prices, I'm surprised they stock any parts. It is cheaper given their warranty policy to replace a knife that has a imported cost in the $12.00 - $25.00 range than to pay someone to fix it.
How do I get the $12.00 figure ?

Just figure that they are making about 30% selling them, maybe more. The wholesaler gets 5-7% if your not at the distributor pricing level. Retail is about 40-50% of dealer cost .A knife with a retail of about $40.00 costs the dealer about $20.00.Take it from there.

I'm not knocking CRKT, I love the knifes and have about a dozen of them and plan to buy more. I've not had one of them that had a problem. Despite my Michrotech, benchmade, William henry, Spyderco and MOD knifes I really really like the CRKT line. I find I carry them the most and tend to prefer them over my more expensive knifes. Maybe I'm just strange.

Well I love all of them that I own, and probably are lusting for some other models that I've yet been able to afford.
But the thing that bugs me is the warranty personnels are so forgetful and it seems that it's not only once.
