i was wondering if any of you were familiar with RAT's warranty. i read that it is a no questions asked warranty which is much better than any other company. i was reading T.O.P.S knife company warranty and i noticed that it said that they only replace blades that are from defects and not from wear and tear. i know that RAT doesnt protect against rust but if you are hammering into a piece of wood or what not and your blade chips, will they replace it? i mean, i heard that someone stuck their RAT RC 5 into a wall to pop out a brick and the blade broke in half and RAT replaced it.

anyway, anybody have any experience with their warranty?

thanks, Jester

I'm pretty sure they replace any broken blade. With that said, used properly (and in some cases extremely improperly) RAT knives aren't known to break.

Jester I think you meant an RC6 was broken prying bricks not an RC5...the RC5 is 1/4" think and stubby...no way this thing is going to snap unless there are high powered machines involved or torches.

Also I believe there was one replaced that popped the edge during batoning, and out of something like 6,000 izulas, only one was submitted for replacement, and that was used to pry open a door

Even replaced a few knives that the owner claimed weren't sharp enough from the factory.

100% no questions asked.

yeah, thats great especially since its transferable. i like to buy stuff from ebay when i can. which is good that they dont care where you bought it from.

Mostly because it's a shitload of work to keep track of ALL of your customers. Gives a heap of paperwork, so this is a good way of avoiding it while making your customers happy at the same time.

Great service, Shotgun

They have said if you cut it with a torch, they will replace it.

Although I'm sure they would replace it, I'd feel pretty embarrassed to ask for a new one if I did something so obviously pointlessly destructive. I got a RAT because of the warranty though, they really stand behind the products they sell.

one would hope every wako with a torch would feel the same!

yeah, that seems very dishonest. i mean, if you dont take care of your knife and then you want a new one so you cut it in half, i mean, thats not cool. i mean, the warranty tells me that they stand behind their products and it makes me less worried about using it for lots of everyday things like tightening a bolt or what not.

I think I would be more worried about the safety of the user, trying to loosen or tighten a screw with his/her knife than hurting any RC knife itself.

lightstryder- thats true. i sometimes see people use their knives to loosen screws, like in Human Target, he used his knife to gain access to the ventilation space. but im not sure how practical that actually is.

The warranty is one of the main reasons I purchased a RC knife.

In this day in age, that says alot about a company.

With large corporations making tons of money and us the consumer paying for it.

It is nice to know RAT Cutlery is a stand up, fair company, that cares about its consumer as an individual and not a number.

Thanks RAT
