warranty

yes. i was really torn between the becker necker and the RAT izula and the warranty is what changed my mind.

Okay, I gotta say it. Jeff and Mike stand behind their product 100% no matter what. That is extremely generous. But I gotta say, in my opinion, if I were to use my knife in a manner that I KNEW was what it wasn't intended for, then I would man up, keep it as a trophy and possibly a good learning lesson on what NOT to do with your knife and open up my pocket book, buy another one and support a GREAT company! Ok stepping off my soapbox now! :p

oh duracoat. that is what i should have used to paint my gun. i just used the krytec or what ever camo spray paint. but this stuff is what i should use. thank you for turning me onto it.

when you paint guns, it all depends on the end result you want. My buddies and I use the good ole' camo paint from any hardware store, and when freshley painted it looks good, but we like that over time and use the paint gets character and camoflauges itself as the layers rub away slowly, but if yuo want it perdy all the time then yeah duracoat or the ones that are baked on are the way to go.

yeah, i painted my gun and it turned out excellent but now the paint is wearing off. i also painted my military helmet and that turned out amazing too. i have a knack for camouflage painting.

as long as you do it in layers when it wears off it just adds to it, your first two layers should probably have two coats of two different colors

It is a great warranty. But if I broke my RC-4 doing something silly, I wouldn't take advantage of it. Even if they were willing, I would feel bad abusing a small companys generosity.

ok, so it seems like a lot of people wouldnt get their RAT knife replaced if it broke while they were doing something stupid. i understand that these are extremely durable knives.

my question is if what would have to happen for you to file for a replacement? i mean, would it have to break just by hammering it into a tree because it got too cold or what?

Jester

Hammer it into a tree? Why would you do that? For me to use the warranty, it would have to break doing something that isn't abuse, which I can't see any RAT doing?

The bottom line is Jester, you got nothing to worry about. If it breaks for any reason while you are anyone else owns it, its covered, period, end of story. So go have fun, buy the knife you want, use the hell out it and don't give it a second thought!

Here is the skinny. Our warranty is unconditional period. Normal wear like coating wearing with use or rust when you don't care for it is about the only thing I won't replace simply because it will happen to all knives of carbon steel regardless of maker.

The reason we give this warranty is Jeff and I have spent enough time in the real world to realize that sooner or later you will find yourself in a pickle and have to use your knife for something it was never intended to be used for. That is life . And we don't want you to have to fail to get a job done because you were worried about chipping or breaking your knife.

If you buy one of our knives you have bought a knife for life. I will always replace it no matter how many times it changes hands or how you break it. I do ask questions on the warranty form but only to help us build a better knife. It doesn't affect you getting another new knife.

Now, I challenge the entire knife industry to do exactly the same. There is no reason with fixed blade knives that every manufacturer in this industry cannot give the same warranty we do. You deserve it for the money you pay for our products. Screw warranties that are limited to factory defects in material or workmanship. I can see some limits on folders and such with all the problems they can have but fixed blades are simple tools with very few problems. Tell the other companies to get their ass in gear and do it. Mike
