Warspear Knives

I doubt either of those two are involved, that last Warspear in the OP has been around in different guises for years. I've got a no-clip version of it that I've had for probably five years now, it's ok I guess but kind of a cheap bruiser. A garage or camp knife is a good description.
Yeah I've seen similar knives before for pretty cheap on the auction site. They sort of look like something you'd find at Wallyworld produced under the Taylor brand umbrella. That cheapo plastic thumbstud on the first knife is what you'd find on a $5 gas station knife....

Alright rhino rhino since you started this mess. Pick one warspear and I'll buy it, then I'll do a pass around in that forum and see who interested to try it for EDC....should be fun.

Theres a hurricane here so I'm stuck at home twiddling my thumb anyway.

You're very generous! Let's go with the Model 501.

(someone writing this message may or may not already have the Model 505 in green).

Experience with the Warspear Model 505G so far:

o It's a full size knife!
o Blade is hollow ground and the edge is very thin, especially so for a knife this size. It's going to be a good cutter.
o Point is not fragile.
o No blade play in any direction. Lock is solid.
o Not very sharp out of the box, or perhaps it was buffed too much and the apex was too polishes.
o Sliced fiber reinforced paper paper packaging tape on a Sam's Club box like it wasn't there.
o After a touch-up, it treetops arm hair.
o Action is very smooth. I did not take it apart, but it looks like it has bearing instead of washers.
o Comes with a spare pocket clip (black), cleaning cloth, and two Torx wrenches to match the screws.
o Screws on the pocket clip are not flush, but they're rounded and not very tall. I don't expect them to interfere much with use.
o Looks just like the pics on the White Mountain Knives web site, as shown in message #3 above.

o Things I would change:
-- Leave a more matte/rough finish on the Micarta scales.
-- Add holes on the opposite side so lefties can move the pocket clip to the wrong side.

Your mileage may vary. If they're selling knives like this at a gas station near you for $5, I recommend buying all of them and re-selling at a significant profit.

The thumb stud is actually removable. That's an interesting feature and I like it. It's also really easy to use, although mostly I've used the flipper. I don't know of many gas station knives with Micarta scales and bearings, but then I don't travel much. 😁

You're a gentleman and a scholar, sir. I'll probably pass since I am playing with the 505, but I'm sure the rest of the team will enjoy the opportunity.

Passaround thread started, jump over to that forum to signup if interested.

Cheers
