Was Blackjack knives at 2024 Blade Show?

So precise stock removal, still stock removal.

I've seen Bark River factory walkthroughs on YouTube...no CNC machines anywhere near the place. It's all done by hand grinding on belts and wheels. CNCs would not lead to the complaints you see here about uneven grinds etc.

That said, I have a number of BRKs and none of those are really badly done. I don't use a micrometer to check grind symmetry though. In fact, one of my favorite EDCs is a BRK Mini Kephart in 3V. Light, slicy, and good blade length for the weight (just looked at it again - the plunge lines are off by a tenth or so. Some will complain, I don't care).

CNC’d as in blanks are water jet cut in large batches.
Convex grind & handles done in house.

What's wrong with stock removal? Still takes skill.
Just pointing out one of the differences between Randall’s and Blackjack’s.

People like to say they are the same as Randall’s when they aren’t even made the same way. I am willing to spend more on a forged knife than one made by stock removal.

A Blackjack is closer to a KA-BAR than to a Randall.

Didn't Loveless do stock removal?
Definitely Not siding with BR, but nothing wrong in stock removal.
And many fine steels don't lend themselves to forging.

I have no idea how Loveless knives were made.

I never said stock removal was wrong, just pointing out one of the differences between the 2 brands.

Don’t take it out of context. I was responding to the guy who said there was no difference between them.

I own a few of both, and like them for different reasons. the Randall's are far better made in tolerances, ergos, heat treat, skills used, and pretty much everything. really aren't that much more expensive for what you get and dont get from a blackjack/bark river. saying they are close or the same is not just wrong but completely wrong.

Id rather have Randalls too, I was Just being snarky

Awfully hard to get a Randall though unless you want to wait five years or pay a lot to a dealer. I'd love to have a Randall but....

It’s not hard (difficult), it just takes patience.

I’m sure you have other knives to use while you wait. It’s only a $50 deposit and you lock in today’s price.

Unless you are an octogenarian, just order one.
