Was does your partner think about the knives?

Mine is sitting downstairs right now with the Blade Guide looking up this 112 first version that just showed up here. That book has a whole bunch of green sticky flags on a bunch of pages. I am going to have to see what she is looking at. I dare not teach her how to do ebay. Only enough so she lets me know when blades on my watch list are coming up for the final minutes.

I think I will keep her.... No...no sisters...

Or make you single LOL

...I am single!... :D

But the gas prices are killing my hobby funds...I wasn't kidding about emptying all the car ashtrays of change... :(

I am just starting collecting so i'm more in the phase 'guy who has a lot of knives' not yet collector but my girlfriend of 8 months thinks it's fine, she grew up on a farm and gets a little nervous when i play with my butterfly but i've seen her find and use one of my sharper knives for some of her Graphic Design classes...she's great

She doesn't undertand why I need more than 1, but she knows it's a hobby. I could be at Hooters every night, but I'm not. She has no idea the tens of thousands I've spent on knives, and I'll keep it that way:cool: . I just hope she never reads this forum:eek:

That reminds me of the story of the stamp collector who died, and his widow sold his collection to a dealer for peanuts...she had no idea it was worth hundreds of thousands... :(

Then there's the Hooter's regular who tells his wife he's spending it all on his stamp collection...and when he dies, she thinks it will support her in her old age...but that dude's stamps are worthless... :o

You pays your money and you takes your chances...

My young sons are knowledgeable Buck collectors, they would never let their Mom do something foolish;)

The second I tip over I think my kids will clean the whole Buck Display right out! No Mom, Dads knives werent worth anything- we'll just keep um!:D

hummm i think between by daughter who likes sharp things and has already my display case and my one brother mine wont get sold for nut prices...
naw they will get devided and re collected...
and my wife knows what they are worth!
i mean she pays the credit card bill ...
as said - we dont go to hooters and play tip jars and put our tip in bra's or painties ...

My wife has learned to accept my collection. When we were first married I came home with a new knife and she asked me why I bought another knife when I already have so many. " I said because I am over 21, live in America, go to work every day and I will buy what I want". She just looked at me and said,"I was just asking". Since then it has never been an issue.

 ...Mine shows signs of acceptance and understanding....at times....It's not too bad when a few months go by and she doesn't see a new addition to the credit card statement. I can then sneek in a relatively inexpensive purchase. It's when she sees five or six at a time that she goes bonkers...Her question to me is always the same... "It looks just like the hundred or so knives that you already have!!! Why did you need those new ones???" ...Try explaining that a date mark or a steel type or a scale material makes a difference to a woman who is not an engineer sometime...If I can time my purchases to times that she buys shoes though...I'm in the clear...but who knows when a woman gets a "shoe craving" ???...:D
Yeah, pretty much all of what Darryl said goes for me.
When we were in Twin Falls two weeks ago, my fiance, now wife, asked me if I wanted to ride to the Buck Pad. I looked it up and it was several hundred miles away. :(
But the fact that she asked was pretty cool to me.
Goose.

BTW, she is an engineer and she still doesn't get it...I'm not a big collector like some of ya old timers, only have about two dozen Bucks and, to her, that's about 22 more than any sane person would need.

my wife is pretty understanding, and hey, most knives are cheaper than swords! lol. she actually carries one, thats more than most women agree to. lol.

She doesn't say a thing because I'm the one doing all the sharpening of the kitchen cutlery (and bought her some really nice Spyderco kitchen knives which she loves). However, we first cover the cost of the things we really need before worrying about the cost of stuff we want (like collectible knives). Keeping that in perspective really helps the relationship I think.

Thanks for the congrats El Pollo, Larry, Preston, and Mike...
Yeah, it was a good trip.
Wifey carries a 55 in her purse...I guess to do her nails, stab pickles outta a jar, or something.
