i was just going through my photobucket and thought i would post up a couple of pics that i found that i thought you guys might like...
a pine bough shelter i made a year and a half ago at my old house...
looking back, i wouldn't have trusted it to protect me from much. i now know about keeping shelters small and tightly packed
a kit that i used to EDC...i now know that many of the items are nearly useless or i have replaced them with simpler, longer lasting alternatives;
a knife that a friend and i made together in 8th or 9th grade;
made from mild steel i think, or otherwise totally annealed carbon steel. probably mild steel. thick grind, crooked edge from me hammering the edge to try to thin it out cold forging style. back when i thought i wanted a sharpened prybar...
a drawing from "my side of the mountain"
still can't get it right. they are either too big to fit in a fish mouth or fall apart.
a photo that i found on the internet a few years ago and thought was really cool:
do you guys have any pics that remind you of things you have learned or used to think (and now know are wrong)?
stories about going from carrying the kitchen sink to a minimalist approach are always appreciated...
