Im in Australia... purchased knives from EbayUSA and other USA knife sites... I had a proxy who'd let me send to her address in Macclenny FL and Id pay her $680 to send them to me.... After the knives built up to$6000US approx... she cut all contact... Ive had local sheriff AND local police visit her only for her to shoo them away. Ive contacted dozens of lawyers but to no success. If anyone can help me find a civil lawyer... itd be even better if theyre in the knife community... or anything to get me closer... Please help...
Im stuck....
PLease help :(

It won't help to post multiple threads. You're going to have to provide lots more details before anyone might possibly have suggestions for help. And posting links or emails on the open forum isn't advised.

One thread per topic.
Posting your email address in a public place is not recommended. The entire internet can read it.

Not sure what you expect this forum to do about something that occurred on eBay.

It may not be productive to put more money into the situation by hiring a lawyer. The knives may already be gone, and crooked people know well how to avoid the legal system. It’s an expensive lesson about knowing who to trust with your money. It happens to many of us. About 23 years ago, I lost $20k by trusting the wrong person. I learned from it, and moved on.

Sorry mate, I think you are out of luck on this. The US legal system is complex and expensive. There are so many barriers I can see you needing to overcome to prove that the knives are yours etc etc that the cost of even a “Bus Seat Lawyer” in FL will exceed the value of the $s you are out so far. It’s sucks but you really need to know the person you trust with an arrangement such as this. I have done the same thing for much more value in blades than you are talking but he was (and remains) a personal friend of many years.

How did you meet said proxy? Seems strange trusting a stranger with $6k worth of anything. More details are needed.

Just another reason why I hate proxies. In my experience they’re used by dishonest buyers who go against the terms of sale “US only”(not accusing you). They’ve screwed a few people over on the forum, both buyers and sellers. As you have sadly learned, the risk ain’t worth the reward.

As many in the US have found out, even if you manage to win the civil case, there is no way to make the crooks pay back what you are owed.

I'm sorry to say that your knives have been sold and the proceeds either used for drugs or debt. Either way it's gone.

For that kind of money the legal route is pointless, and proving in court that the knives were actually yours and not hers will be next to impossible.

Please don't be tempted to buy a ticket and go and do your own debt collecting. If you don't get shot you may end up with serious criminal charges. Either way it's not worth it.
$6K is a lot of money to loose but it's not a life changing amount.

I feel for you. It's a hard, steep learning curve.

Have you contacted ebay support? They might be able to help you out, you were probably not the only one. Sorry for your loss, 6800 is insane.

I don't see how or why there would be any recourse through eBay. If he paid the sellers and the sellers sent the knives to his Florida proxy, both eBay parties completed their obligation. This is a dispute between OP and the person he was having knives shipped to.

She's going to claim they were a "gift" and the law cannot do anything unless there is a clear and binding contract between the parties.

Unfortunate but
The money is lost
If you need to use a proxy, you need to choose very carefully
Lifes lessons are sometimes very painfful

I disagree.
