Was the umnumzaan considered a hit?

I like the handle and pivot bearing better on the Umzum, but I like the blade shape on the Sebbie a lot better.

AS a great seb fan, I'm not impressed with the Um at all. I've never held one though.

The Umnum was designed and built to the same standards as any other CRK. It comes down to personal taste and whether or not it appeals to you. Some will turn their nose up at it for being too tactical or gimmicky while others (like me) will love it.

I have 3 Sebenzas and an Umnumzaan. Both types open equally easy, but you have to position your thumb a bit differently. On the Umnumzaan you rest your thumb on the blade and press the thumb stud parallel to the handle. With the Sebenzas you press out away from the handle more. Either one opens very easily once you learn the technique, but they are different. In my opinion, they are equal in quality and smoothness. It simply comes down to aesthetics.

The Umnumzaan is very similar to the Sebenza but with better ergonomics. The Sebenza is mostly a straight handle

Is it me or do the Umnums seem to move slowly on the secondary market? Also, I wouldn't say that it's rare to see one on the for sale forums.

You ain't seen nothing yet. Just wait until CR comes out with the small umnumzaan.

I went over the the Reeve booth on Sunday at BLADE specifically to handle and perhps buy an Umnumzaan as my first Chris Reeve folder. Yes, they had at least one available left, but I walked away with a small Sebbie 21 "Eyes" instead. Will I get an Umnumzaan? Probably, as I did like it. I did ask about a small Umnumzaan, but was told that currently, there are no plans to produce one at this time.
