Was there ever a pattern you once disliked, but now LOVE?

The muskrat is calling my name. Used to think that the long California clip blades were kind of weird/wimpy looking, but having used one for a little while now I really see how handy they are.

I never liked a Muskrat Pattern at all!! I didn't see any use for
them! But I got an Old Improved Muskrat and I like it!
It was gifted to me, and I'm glad it was, I would of never
bought one! But it's not to bad!

The congress and the barlow. I didn't like them before- now I do. I'm still lukewarm on the canoe, but I have a feeling I'll come around to that pattern eventually.

The one pattern I can say with reasonable certainty that I do not like is Case's large trapper. And maybe the clasp. :D

I don't have a toothpick, but I don't really know that I don't like it. Maybe soon a GEC or Queen. And the Congress is one that I really haven't been able to get excited about. But thus far this reply is just a bit back from the point of the thread, so let me move up - I never was excited at all about a peanut, then I won Vince's give away and that little peanut has really turned that thinking around. So, for me the peanut was the one that I didn't think I'd like, but do now. I'm watching that new Chestnut bone Case in the "... from day 1" thread. - Ed

I always hated the toothpick/fishing knife when i was a kid. They were always "JUST" a fish knife. The older i get the more i like knives that are really comfortable to use for extended times. I really dig the case baby butterbean now as well.

Not a specific pattern, but a whole class of slipjoints--All single blades:eek: Used to wouldn't have looked twice at one regardless of the pattern.

Now single blade slippies are by far my most carried and collected class:o

I didn't like trapper patterns at all before and to be honest, I still don't like the ones with the long spey blade. However, I find the handle shape very comfortable and those with a single spearpoint, wharncliffe, drop point or clip point or in combination I really like nowadays. I intend to obtain a Tony Bose inspired serpentine wharncliffe trapper one of these days. :)

A seahorse whittler always looked awkward, til I bought a bulldog stag with carbon blades. I was amazed at the heft of the spine, but I really like it's ergonomics.

Was there ever a pattern you once disliked, but now LOVE?....Well, maybe not dislike so much but rather ignored?

Yep. Barlows. That is until I realized how they carry like a canoe/gunboat...and tried Dan Burke's small barlow. Great knife, that one.
