I've searched and found a ton of threads about "PB vs. Teflon vs. Nytralon" but none comparing regular bronze and PB for use in knife washers.

The big knife parts sellers offer standard "bronze" washers. Are they mislabeling PB washers as "bronze"? What is the practical difference between bronze and phosphor bronze?

I'll bet most of them are phosphor bronze, whether they're labeled or not. Different bronze chemistries have different characteristics for their intended purpose.

Phosphor bronze happens to be designed for bearing surfaces:

A supplier should know these things when choosing what goes in their inventory, but I would still ask the supplier to be sure.
