O.K. Waynorth, could you enlighten us on the name selection? Chamfered, flat, and ringed bolsters look "presidential" almost, or at least similar to another run of knives similar in name.......

The name comes from the bolsters on George Washington's knife

I only know that because I looked it up the other night! Sshhh! ;)

Mr.C is actually asking the same question over at B.Levine's Forum. So far only one answer.....

The two bladed Jack with Washington Bolsters!!!!!! To be honest Charlie - I dont know what Washington Bolsters are? I have missed that along the line, but I want to know/see more!!!!!!!!

I don't know what Washington Bolsters are either - anything to do with Washington Works? It sounds a very interesting knife

Nope! As carried by George Wasington :)

From what I have read elsewhere, I think the first reproduction of George Washington's Quill Knife, as given to him by his mother, was produced by Camillus in 1932.

I think what I read the other night elsewhere, and what Charlie is talking about, may actually be two seperate things! Sorry, very long day! :o

Well I guess we now have a better understanding of the box of pen blades marked for #77 use.

I really like the Washington bolsters as well. That jack is going to look slick! Just saw the pics on gec.net.

I have never held a GEC 77 or Schrade 2ot but this sure looks like a classic throwback to the 2ot. Heres hoping this is the next diamond jack.

Here's what the Washington Bolsters look like!

A quote from "Philbird" in my thread in Bernie Levine's Forum:
A couple ideas:
1. Washington bolsters are so called because they vaguely resemble the bolsters on the "George Washington" knife(made by Robeson). It's a stretch.
2. Washington bolsters originated from George Wostenholm's Washington Works. This would make more sense, as many Sheffield cutlery patterns crossed the Atlantic to the New World.
My $0.02[end quote]

I recall a discussion some years ago that came to the "Wostenholm" explanation as being the most likely!
The other "George" explanation has got GEC teasing me mercilessly!!

Hopefully those two buttons are headed for the crusher!:D

More to come when I get a chance!

I'm loving the UN-X-LD rear bolsters.

I'll second that. Very classy looking. I'm hoping that they go with a stamped logo on the blade, like on the all steel 73s, instead of an etch. That would be real nice. ;)
