Watch help/advice

I could never understand as to why people always start threads like this in search of a durable watch when they all know that G-Shocks are top of the line in reliability and durability. If you want a real watch that will never fail you in the most hostile and extreme environments, get real and buy a G-Shock.

My point is you don't need a $700 watch to serve you out in the field. All you need is a $100 solar powered G-Shock and you're pretty much set for life.

Anyways if you want to play dress up and have a "tacti-cool" looking watch that is still tough and durable then I would suggest you look no further than an MTM. I have the Predator model in black and it is simply spectacular to say the least. http://www.specialopswatch.com/

Take a look at the G-Shock cousins: Pro-Trek/Pathfinder and Edifice. They're all made by Casio and share many features, but have different focuses. I have two G-Shocks and one Pathfinder. I've been meaning to add an Edifice to the collection but I'm still looking for the right one.

If you want a watch that's stylish, super effing cool without being gaudy or tac-tardian, look at Hamilton Watches. Now, they only have a few that are digital, most being analog, sans hands. They have some really great rugged designs, are reasonable in price, are famously used in just about every Hollywood movie, and will last you your entire life. I know, I have a Hamilton railroad pocket watch I inherited from a great uncle that he bought back in the early 50's. He's long gone but the watch is still around, and still ticking. After I wear out my Fossil, I will be getting a Hamilton and it will be the last watch I ever get.

Or, you could be like everyone else and get a G-Shock. LOL, I have one, but I only wear it when I'm playing Army. If it weren't for that I'd never wear it...just saying.

Unfortunately, Hamilton, like a lot of things, exists in name only. Hamilton is no longer an American company, they are owned by the Swatch group. They are still a decent watch and I like some of their more simple designs but they are not the Hamilton of old.

If you want an American-made watch, check out Lum-Tec. Their movements are not made in America, but the watches are assembled here.
