Watching USPS or UPS package travels

Well a surprising ending to my story of the ghost package that went to Colorado Springs, follow me on this;
When I took the package to the post office the lady there weighed it and said it would be a bit less to send it in a flat rate envelope and so I agreed and filled out a label and she stuck the box in the envelope.
The folks there always look out for me but they don’t wrap or tape up things as well as I do so somewhere along the line, my box decided it didn’t want to travel in an envelope and proceeded to make an escape! Just where that happened is anyone’s guess but when it did happen the post office there put a new label on MY box and shipped it on its way
BUT, isn’t there always one!, the post office didn’t throw away the now empty envelope, but continued to send it along as well and that’s what was delivered today!
Very glad that my original box was neatly labeled and well taped up so it arrived safely
Twilight Zone stuff

Also interesting thing, I ordered 3 items from Amazon, two rolls of paracord and one Japanese leather cutting knife. Now, the knife and one roll are on one order, the other roll of paracord on another. But, they ended up combining all three items into one box with one tracking number. The funny thing is, ONE roll of paracord says delivered by 9pm while the other two items....in the same box mind you ;) ... says they will be delivered by 8pm...go figure right ?

Just today, UPS stops by and knocks on the door, it was earliesh so we were not amenable to opening doors at that time, but I figured it was some paracord beads I had ordered and NOT a package that needed to be signed for. There wasn't any email saying "OUT FOR DELIVERY" as they sometimes do, it would have been helpful to know that for sure, so now...it will be Mondayish if I can get the package. A friend sent along some knives that needed sharpening and some lanyards, he put insurance on it and signature confirmation. But UPS announces a very very wide span of time that things might arrive at, from early morn to way past sundown so there isn't a way to be exactly there in time to open the door for them. But an email saying "your package is out for delivery now" would have prevented my missing it, on a Friday no less.

Now my mail runs about like clockwork, but I understand they go on a routine route so you can sort of count on them at a certain time, but UPS, they cover a lot of irregular delivery patterns so you can't nail down just when to see them roll up, which makes for a hectic day, especially if you have to sign for something. I guess it is on par with the infamous 'Cable Guy' situations ;)

My money goes with USPS more times than naught and the folks at the Post Office are pleasant and know me probably too well by now :)
