Beer cozy? Nope. Too well made and too thick. Plus you would have to stack 2 beers in it or a fosters oil can just to fill it up. Best insulating jacket I ever got for a water bottle and it will even stretch to fit that 40oz Kleen Kanteen I got.

I have tried lots of was to carry fluid like the bottle holders that attach to your hand, the belts and the packpacks with the bladders in them but the best ever is a Nathan Hydration Vest. link; http://nathansports.com/our-products/hydrationnutrition/race-vests
I know they are not military at all but I have used them on runs of 15 miles and more and have never had a problem. Not to brag but I use mine in trail races and hit sub 6 minute miles bombing down single track and I hardly know its there. The one I have holds 2 liters and has some pockets for gel and munchies. I can't imagine using anything else.

Think I saw one on Ebay. Nalgene just came out with it. Noticed it when I was buying some Maxpedition stuff. I'll PM the link if I can find it.
