Gentlemen, I was wondering if someone could offer an opinion or two.

I have a brother-in-law who is on a Sandia Mountain Search And Rescue team in New Mexico. When asked what he wanted for Christmas, one of the things he listed was "a quart water bottle - one of the new ones that are BPA-free".

I did a search on "water bottles" in a Blade Forum Google search engine, but didn't come up with any hits. I'd like to get him what he wants - does anyone know of a good water bottle that you believe would fit the bill?

I looked at Brigade QuarterMaster, TAD and a couple of other places - nada.

Any help at all would be very appreciated. A happy holiday to you all...

Nalgenes website has the new BPA free bottles.

Id suggest a guyot. Stainless steel is bpa free, and you can boil water in it.

The guyot is waay better man. I am really liking mine alot. I have the standard....Scroll down to see the BPA free Nalgenes.

Are the Guyots sturdy-feeling? I was going to pick one up in a few weeks, since I was planning a camping trip for my birthday, but didn't have much feedback about them.

I saw the other forum, but I haven't read through it entirely yet..

i got these from Nalgene. I'm not sure about the tumblers, but all the bottles are BPA free.

I have a 40oz Klean Kanteen which I love, but I would suggest getting a sports cap for it (just a couple of bucks) so you don't have to screw and unscrew the cap when on the go. Also difficult to drink from in a moving vehicle w/o the sports cap....you get as much on you as in you.

I also have a camelBak "The Better Bottle" which is BPA free. Great bottle as well.

I have one of the nonlexan nalgenes that is PBA free. I cant remember what its made of but some sort of plastic. I also like my sigg bottles (aluminum, lighter than a nalgene), looks like I might have to try a guyot now though.

I have both kleen kanteen and guyot, and both are great, but guyot seems twice as thick/sturdy.

I agree with Rock. I too have em both, and the Klean Kanteen is great, as a matter of fact my cuz was roomates with one of the fellows that started the line. That said, Guyot feels better, sturdier, and all the aftermarket widemouth Nalgene accsesories fit it, and the wide mouth makes it pull double duty as a cook pot if need be.

as J W mentioned, the stainless steel guyots are the way to go. bpa free, and you can boil in them. plus you can buy steel mugs that will fit on the bottom of the bottle.

I woul suggest either the HDPE Nalgene(the white smokey plastic) or a Klean Kanteen. I own both and they are great. You can find either pretty easily with a google search and pick a store of you choosing.

I love my Camelbak better bottles
i own 2 (750ml nand a litre) and have converted my wife and her little sister over to them

no stuffing around with unscrewing a lid, just flip the little tab up, can be done one handed

Another vote for the Guyot. Anything dual purpose is worth consideration. The only possible criticism might be the weight.

And this is a cool way to use it, at least IMHO.

I've been using SIGG water bottles for years. Light weight aluminum. They work well.

A SS bottle sounds good as well.
