Water Buff horn.

I have a knife from asia that has an oversized horn handle.How long to wait for it to stabilize and shape it to the fittings.I have heard a year.Thanks.

If its whole cut it up into slabs to the thickness you want rough .. do most of the grinding on it. Then let it set for a year or so in a dry box.
OR if your in a hurry clamp it to a flat slab of steel and put it to the the oven to just under boilinng in your part of the world and let it dry for a few hours.
This stuff is still not stable no matter what . DO not dunk it into water or get it hot when finishing


This is just my opinion. Im sure there are several ways to skin this cat.

Thanks Darrel,it is whole and on the tang.It won`t hurt to let it sit a year.It is usable now.
