I thinking about puting on of this my bob, but know much about them. Does anyone know if they are any good or should I just stick to tablets that I already have. thanks

The filter straws can't hurt, but, always know what it can, and cannot do.
What is it's absolute micron filtering rating?

Where would you think is the most likely place you would use it?
If it's a mountain stream supplied by snowmelt, you'll probably be OK, if it's a mud puddle in Bayonne New Jersey, you may want to think again.

The straws (I have one) I would consider it strictly a survival itme, and in an unpolluted area, that means not near agriculture either where pesticidesand chemicals could pose a risk.

one thing I live by is, IF you can, boil, then strain, then of course airate. But thats if you can.

I'd have to agree, with the others I've used tablets and filters in the past wiht no ill consequence, but from everything I've read nothing is as safe as boiling, but the more options the better.

On the equipped forum, I posted a compilation of all the information I could find with a quick google search. I didn't come to any conclusion, but hopefully it would make a handy reference
