I have been working with Lucky Bob on a design to be cut out by Great Lakes Waterjet. Here is the result. I plan to put handles on some, cord wrap on others to provide more cutting comfort. They will be cut from 5/32 O1. I plan to use differential heat treat to make for a tougher knife.

I dont believe they can round the edges as shown so that will be done by hand.

Theyre just doing the profiling, right?

Ive been thinking about them for a large batch of knives but then i always whip out the bandsaw and a 30 grit belt and cant bring myself to pay for the service.

Just the profiling. I am having some others waterjet cut by someone near my house and will allow me to start some new knives while doing the finish work on some current knives. I will see if it is worth the cost overall.

That looks great but I would suggest you make the finger choil seperation about a 1/8th inch smaller to allow more versatility when gripping.

We are doing some prototypes to help id any problems, I will take a look at the finger choil seperation, thanks

I like your project!! I am interested to see how you wrap it with cord
As simply a matter of personal likes, I would have the holes increase in size as the handles gets wider.

I like your Idea of increasing the hole size, something we will look into more closely once we get the prototypes done. The cord wrap, hmm.. Lucky Bob was thinking no handles and I was thinking its needs to be a little wider to get a grip, (also I have some great AZ Ironwood which will be stunning and practical) so I posed the wrap idea and he liked that. I know nothing about the wrap but I think on a small knife like this it will help make it more practical and look good as well. Another task for the prototype.

Just adding my $.0002... I appreciate all of your inputs, seeing as this is going to be my first knife I've ever designed and then actually gotten made.

Pat's been great to work with, and I think I can learn a lot from him, while turning out a pretty neat little knife!

Shameless poser pics! LB, I hope you like these. I think they turned out great. I want one when they are done;)
