Waterjet Cutting

Call Aldo, his son has setup next door to him ...... buy the steel,..... send the CAD or templates, ......receive cut out blanks.....one stop shopping.

Thank you Stacy. Didn't know about Aldo's son. Didn't know Aldo could get my kind of steel either, but it was a quick deal.

Thanks again.

I HIGHLY recommend leading edge cutting solutions. Talk to mark over there and he will hold up to his word.

I dont like to bad mouth other makers or suppliers but Aldo and Pete Bruno took almost three months just get a single prototype to me, without a tracking number, then claimed the mail lost it.

Mark at leading edge had the CAD files on a Monday, then found me the steel he carried on Wednesday and cut the next day. From start to finish and getting the blades in my hands it took almost exactly a week.

Just sayin' ;)

Both Aldo Bruno and Mark at Leading Edge are dealer members here, so there's that. I think Mark's user name is H2Oknife?

I've had a few orders with Mark Vanderwest at Leading Edge Fabrication, and he's always impressed me with the turn around time and end product. From the time I say pull the trigger, it's rarely taken more than a week. Quotes are usually returned within a couple of days.

Not to mention he's a nice guy to talk to.

That said, I've not had any waterjet work done through Aldo, but he's never disappointed on the various orders of steel I've made with him.

We've shipped materials to many waterjet cutters. We get to hear lots of stories from knifemakers about who to use, and who to avoid.

When we need waterjet cutting services, we send our materials to Mark at Leading Edge Fabrication. He is the best. I've heard of one problem a knifemaker had with Mark, and the problem was resolved the same day. I've never heard or LEF talking weeks or months to cut materials. I've never heard of them have part get lost in the mail. We've never had to ship LEF more materials because the first shipment was cut wrong.

LEF has a dynamic head on their machine. This means the cuts are straight up and down, not tapered.

The first job they cut for us arrived on day 1, was cut on day 2, return shipped to us on day 3. From the time we shipped until the parts returned was a week! The cutting and hole spotting was perfect.

Leading Edge also stocks blade steels. They are our competitor and we recommend them.

Ladies and gentlemen, that's a good example of why I say we're in THE true Golden Age of knifemaking. The very best materials and techniques in human history are available to us, and the bar of quality has been raised so high that even direct competitors at the top of their game have to acknowledge it.

At least you got somewhere. I never even got a quote. Great for steel, but I'll go with LEF when it's time for that step. I've talked to Mark lots of times on the phone, he's a good guy.
