My company, Cartesian Designs LLC can provide the following services:
I work a day job in a fabrication shop. I rent waterjet time. I personally do the DXF conversion, waterjet programming, waterjet operating, laser programming, and laser operating (for simple parts). My service should be prompt and predictable; machine maintenance should be the only unpredictable factor.
I can also quote the following services, but these would be done through the shop and therefore subject to the shop's schedule and prices:
Waterjet Info:
All terms are subject to change.
Our waterjet is an older machine. My price may be a bit less than GLWJ, but my cut-quality is also less. There will be a slight taper on the cut. Plan on cleaning up the edge on your belt grinder. Holes in thicker material are often out-of-round; generally when I need a nice hole, I WJ undersized and drill or ream. I do NOT recommend using me for folders or other critical applications.
To waterjet runs off a "path" file; "xxx.ORD". The path is created from a DXF file. "Programming" (to me) is creating the path. Generating a DXF (if necessary) is a separate task.
I DO charge a one-time programming fee. It will be based on a $30/hr rate. Generally, the programming should take me 5 or 10 mins. Eventually, I hope to have a fee that is based on linear inches of cut (including holes). Most CAD programs should calculate the part perimeter, so you should be able to figure out the WJ price at home. ANY change in the drawing will require re-programming.
I DO charge a DXF Generation fee. However, I will email you the DXF file; it will be your property.
I DO NOT charge a machine set-up fee, unless your part (knife) width exceeds the material width minus 0.250".
I do not stock knife steel, except a small qty of 1/8" and 3/16" 1075 that I use. We have 1008 (commercial steel), 304 stainless, 316 stainless, 5052 aluminum, and 6061 aluminum from 0.030" (22g) to 1.5" thick on hand.
So, to start, I would like you to provide your material.
If you provide material and a DXF file, I will work on a first-come, first-serve basis. I should be able to cut your job promptly (the same week, or the next week). If you need me to generate a DXF file, there will be an additional delay.
Simple Laser Parts Info:
Any part with up to 10 holes, with a circular or rectangular outline (with or without corner radii) can be cut on our laser with a simple G-code program that I wrote. This includes washers. I can do steel up to 0.5", stainless up to 0.25", and aluminum up to 1/8". If you need more than 10 holes, I can add to the G-code.
Cost is:
$5 for Programming/Set up +
$1 per minute for run time +
material cost + (we have mild steel, 304 SS, 316 SS, 5052 Al, and 6061 Al on hand).
Other Services:
please inquire. I do not recommend using our laser for high-carbon steel thicker than 1/8".
Contacting Me:
If you are interested in any mentioned services, I think it will be best to keep things formal (so I can stay organized).
If you would like a quote, please put "Request for Quote" or "RFQ" in the email subject line, or as a header in your email. Please include your full name, address, and phone number, qty, and desired due date. Even better would be a pdf sent as an email.
I will respond with a quote and a corresponding quote number. If you wish to move forward, please put "Purchase Order" or "PO" in the email subject or pdf. Make up a purchase order number (date with your last name is good: MMDDYYabcdefg).
Photos of some things we've made are attached. All of the parts on the quench tank (except the handles) were made with Simple Parts laser program.
Photos of my KMG-clone can be viewed at

The hinged motor-mount was made with the Simple Parts program.
We can make salt pots too.
thanks!
