Waterpoof/quickly drying Undies?

Under Armor boxers are tight fitting give "the boys" good support and wick away moisture; put a dash of Gold Bond body powder in the crotch area and you'll be good to go. If you get any chaffing, use some baby diaper rash ointment like A&D.

Right on, thanks guys. I'll try to pick up some Under Armor boxer-briefs or some really gay looking nylon running shorts to wear under something less-gay. I'll try powdering too, although I'm not as worried about chaffing as having clammy/soaked/damp boxer-briefs on after a swim. Its SO uncomfortable, especially when your outside layer has already dried about 20 minutes afterwards.

It's funny this thread happened today. I just went on a 12 mile killer freakin' hike and the worst part of the whole damn thing was the chafing. I was freeballin'. Not gonna do that anymore. I don't see how boxers would help me as they're not all up in there where the chafing occurs. Maybe boxer briefs. Gonna buy a few and try 'em out.

For the longer hikes the only solution for the hard to reach places is a coating of Vaseline. An ultra-marathoner friend of mine gave me this tip while I was preparing for a 50 mile hike that I did on my 50 th birthday. The Vaseline provided protection where it was needed.

For less intense hikes in warm weather I use quick drying boxers from REI combined with quick drying nylon "fishing" shorts from Cabelas. You can get similar "hiking" shorts from REI but they cost more.

I wear cheap spandex gym shorts underneath my hiking pants/shorts. I don't get the chafe and I don't have to put on powders or greases. Getting wet? The spandex dries out much better than cotton does.
