Most of the coarse grit belts that I have used over the past 10 years have been suitable for wet grinding. Finer grit belts? Not so much. As I am grinding thin stuff more and also grinding heat treated steel like AEB-L and CPM 3V, I would like to be able to use my Nathan platen chiller and also an "IV drip" type cooling system as much as possible so that i don't have to spend so much time with EDM stones chasing bigger scratches. What belts have you guys used in the 600 or even 800 grit range that are waterproof and have a slightly stiffer backing compared to the super flexy ones that you use for finer work handles, guards, etc?

You could try the ceramic norax belts. I have a similar set up and they don't fall apart like the normal norax.

Thanks. I was checking out the Tru Grit site and the ceramic Norax belts are expensive but one of the few fine grit belts where they say that they are waterproof with no qualifier like "don't use too much water." ;) How is the joint? A while back, I switch from the Norton Blaze belts to the 3M 984 series Cubitrons because they bump less and the glue on the backing doesn't melt onto the platen.

Here i can get only the belts from my hometown supplier, i can't rememeber the brand... the higher grits want to curl if remowed wet from the grinder.
If i can hold them in shape while drying they are good for grinding again. I have never had problems with joints popping apart.

They are expesive, but last a long time. I haven't used them wet that extensively, but so far I haven't noticed any problems with the joints or platen build up. I think I prefer the normal norax belts though, ran slow and dry, they just seem 'sharper'.
