Wave dislikes

My main bitch with my Wave is the weight, which I can tolerate. But it seems it's just slightly too heavy to justify putting it in the pack on backpacking trips.

And no, I'm not a toothbrush driller.

#2 is the thumb rings for opening.

There seems to be no rounding of the machining whatsoever. After I open it just a few times the thing feels like it's slicing me.

Agreed. But I find that's true with a lot of knives, to one degree or another. Laser cut, and they feel like a wire edge all around. What I do is take a piece of ceramic, like my Gatco Tri-Seps, and buff the edges lightly. That'll do it, more or less, even on the Wave. But they really should do it on the basic stock themselves, before they assemble the knife.

I really don't care much for the Wave. The inner tools are hard to access even in normal circumstances, and if you're working in sloppy conditions (rain, mud, etc.) the inner tools become impossible to open. Plus, the Wave doesn't have an awl, a tool which I find particularly useful.

My favorite multitool combination is a Leatherman Crunch coupled with a Victorinox Handyman. That covers just about all the bases.

The Wave in my honest opinion is a neat package. Glad to have it part of my toolbox.
