What are some techniques to using the Wave feature on the Commander? I have not really gotten used to it hanging up while withdrawing it from my pocket, sometimes it will only partially open the blade which I think could be pretty dangerous.

Ted,
One technique that works really well is to open a Bottle w/ it.

Seriously, apply pressure Back against the pocket seem while vigorously pulling out knife from pocket. You know get and hear a distinctive click or snap (which all of mine do. Your blade may be tight from the factory and need several deployments to break in or possibly even adjust your pivot screw.
Hope that helps.

The draw stroke is toward the back, rather than straight up and out, almost as if you are trying to throw the knife behind you.

They are correct, drag to the rear.

I prefer to carry mine in my right hand rear pocket. I drag to the rear and a slight twist to get the wave to the rear (it's simpler to do then to explain).

FYI, if you carry the Commander in your right front pocket, the spine is against the rear of your pocket, keeping it closed. If you place it in your right rear pocket, the blade has the possibility of opening slightly under rugged activity.

Left handed carry takes a little more practice to master the draw and the knife comes out on an ice pick hold.

Perfect practice makes perfect.
