Wave, Surge, Swisstool, or other?

One review I watched on youtube noted the tightness of the lockup on the Victorinox tools, as well as the overall fit and finish. That's something that is appealing to me. The simpler, the better for me. Superior craftsmanship and quality parts without overthinking too much of the design.

I also read that the Leatherman tools are much more accessible, having thumb holes for the blades, etc. More user friendly. Now with the recommendations of the powerlock from SOG, I'm just getting more items to select instead of narrowing it down.

I'm not going to complain about that, though, because even though I hadn't considered SOG before, I'm not going to rule them out because this is exactly how I came across ESEE knives, and now they are my favorite knife company.

Maybe I should just start collecting Multi-tools instead of knives. Does anyone do that?

For the past decade, I have owned a lot of the Leatherman tools, an original Swisstool, and last year, I bought a Swisstool Spirit S. The Spirit is my favorite multi and is now the one I carry/use. As someone mentioned earlier, it has about 95% of the capabilities of the Swisstool, but for myself, the Spirit is much more comfortable. The slightly bowed handles also make the tools much easier to access than the ones on the Swisstool, some tools of which, for me, are almost 'nail-breakers' to pull out.

I only wish the Spirit's sheath could also be carried horizontally.

If weight is less of an issue, quick access to knife is not needed, and more power is desired, then I would go with something you don't list: SOG Powerlock.

I'd actually recommend the SOG PowerAssist. It seems to have the perfect combination of features (or close to it).

Look at the Leatherman Surge. It has the most tools and you can even put any t-shank jigsaw blade in it. Quite heavy though.
