Oh boy. Here we go again. You can Wave all your own knives if you want to and no one can say anything about it, well they can but it doesn't matter unless its the factory or maker of the knife telling you that you no longer have a warranty.
You are not doing anything illegal, immoral or wrong to modify your own knife, and anyone that tells you otherwise is misinformed. No one would legally have a foot to stand on about what you do with your own property. I paid for legal counsel over this as well as having discussions with people in the know such as Sal Glesser and Ernie Emerson before I obtained Ernie's blessing to do this mod for forum members. I know what I'm talking about here. You are fine don't worry about it. There is only one forum out there where you will see the members jumping you, chewing you up and spitting you out for this action and although its a bit of a sore spot with me because it is making a mountain out of a mole hill I'd just say avoid posting this stuff on that forum and you'll be fine.
Waving a knife may lead to trouble if you start selling the Waved knives you make for a profit after you have Waved them but even that is a gray area if you are modifying existing folders already made and out there in the public hands. Both my legal advisor and Ernie confirmed this with me when he said in his conversation with me that he didn't think permission was even necessary for what I was wanting to do.
I just asked out of respect for him and what I felt was his intellectual property. Sometimes the law doesn't really cover what is right and what is wrong. If Ernie told me he would rather I not do any at all I'd have never done even one whether it is right or wrong or anywhere inbetween.
In all likelyhood you could and most likely would run into legal trouble with Ernie or Mr. Demko (another patent holder for a similar add on Wave style opening device) if you are making your own knives and Waving them without permission.
Trust me on this. "It would be a waste of Ernie Emerson's precious time to write him about permission to Wave your own knife. This will only add to his already overfilled inbox. There is no reason to ask a question that doesn't need to be asked in the first place."
By the way. All I get is a sign up page for the web hosting site you linked to and no picture. Is there some trick to seeing your knife that I'm missing?
