Well, it has been a few months and it is doing great. Time for a sharpening.

Anything special you guys have been doing that yall havent shared? Angles you use, convexing it, anything like that?

I have been thinking about leaving it the way it is, the blade looks petite, but is really kind of a hoss. The flat saber grind reminds me of some of the scandi grinded nordic knives I have.

Then again I could pull out the Lansky and put a different geometry on the edge, or just add micro bevels... I dont know... what do yall think?

I brought mine down to about 18-20 degrees inclusive. I really liked it at that angle. It sliced so smoothly I barely noticed it was saber ground.

It's actually hollow ground. I spent the past couple weeks trying to get it flattened out. Still not done, and boy is it ugly.

The least wasteful method would be to microbevel it. 30 degrees (15 degrees) per side should be fine. I've had a waved Delica down to 10 degrees per side, it was never meant to do hard work--just had to be my companion.

Just a freehand sharpening that gives a clean, super sharp working edge is fine for my models (PE). Takes some practice, but once you got it, you got it made.

I use sandpaper and a mousepad. mainly 1500 grit. Remember to use a stropping motion. Using this method on a very regular basis, never let your knives get dull and sharpening will be a lot easier.

+1 on the sand paper & mousepad. I convexed the edge on my Endura 4. Used up to about 1200 grit. Love it. Stays sharp for heaps of cuts and the edge is strong. Maybe you won't get that 'laser' edge, but it will cut very well and I tend to give it 5-8 strokes both sides on a plain bit of leather between uses. Nb: if you think a convex edge isn't sharp, test it on paper, not your finger or thumb. deceptively sharp. use the sharpie trick of marking the edge so you know you've got the angle right. You can look up BRKT convexing if you want a tutorial.
