Hi I'm new to this forum and I am just wondering how someone would go about grinding a wave in their folding knife. Emerson knives and the Spyderco delica and endura come with them. But I have seen guys modify their folders. I'm just wondering what tool I would use?

some kinda rotary dremel tool should make quick work out of most blades. It really shouldn't be too hard to accomplish. Just make a little hook for stuff to get caught on. Personnaly I'd rather have someone tig on a little peice of metal like how the spyderco's have rather then to cut a slot in the blade but that's just me.

My standard tip-up-carry Spydercos (that lack the Emerson Wave feature) have had a "Zip-Tie Wave" at one point or another. This involves pulling a zip tie tight across the hole around the spine of the blade, cutting off the excess, and placing the retainer on the back edge of the blade. When you pull your knife from your pocket, it will reliably open it much like the wave mechanism without any cumbersome or permanent modifications to the steel.
