You would be better off saving the bee's wax for your thread, and using any number of good products designed for the purpose i.e. Leather Sheen or Tan-kote.Waxing sheaths is a waste of time.Dave:)

I have used johnson paste wax. Seems to work well. I use beeswax to coat my leather punches so they work better.

This recipe was give to me and it works really well. It hardens and seals the leather.
3 parts wax
1 part Liquid Gold
1 part Mink Oil
Heat mixture to 160 to 180 degrees
Soak sheath 2 to 3 minutes 3 to 4 times .
Will harden in 2 to 3 weeks.

Thanks Guys I appraciate the time you took to help now I have to put something together I guess a trip tot the store is in order.

I use SnowSeal, a silicon impregnated beeswax that works great for waterproofing leather. I treat all my leather knife sheaths with it, inside and out (I even take them apart), melt it in with a hot air gun or hair dryer. It prevents the leather from absorbing moisture, which is the #1 culprit in causing rust on blades (at least, those stored in the sheath), and doesn't soften the leather. Looks good, too.

Thanks again guys I have been meaning to buy that book I remember looking through it for hours when I was in school.
