Wayne Goddard Micarta knife question

Pretty much agree with what was said in that thread. Although I am a bit confused. Here's why. You say your original one was micarta. The only micarta Goddard ever made in PE was the Goddard Jr. But, AFAIK, the Goddard Jr never came in SE, only PE and CE (partially serrated). So not 100% sure what you have.

That said, on the one hand, converting SE (or CE) to PE seems like it would mean removing a lot of steel. On the other, if you're going to have it done, Tom Krein would be an excellent choice to do it. Personally, I'd just keep an eye on eBay and the Exchange here. PE Goddard Jrs (the only size of the Micarta Goddards that ever came in PE) do show up for sale occasionally. I'd buy the one I wanted, then sell the one I had.

Thanks for the inputs. My knife is a full length SE.

How difficult would it be to have the blade switched out with one that was plane edged? I may have access to one that is "non-micarta", could these be switched without damaging the handle, etc? Thanks again.

bowman1, there is something I don't understand: we are talking about a C16 „big” Goddard or the C18 Junior?
You had a PE micarta Goddard that you lost: that must be the C18 Junior, the only one micarta Goddard that came in PE.
You need an other PE.
You say that you may have access to one that is "non-micarta". But the non-micarta (FRN) handled ones are the big ones: C16. In this case, I don't think the switching could be possible between an older micarta one and an FRN version.
If we are talking about the C18 Junior, there is no need to switch the blade: keep your eyes on eBay, sure they are not very common, but C18 Juniors in PE aren't impossible at all to catch. ;)

Paul, the C18 Junior did come in SE, actually I'm looking for one too, because this and the big micarta SE are the only ones that I don't own yet of all the Goddards which exist... ;)
