What works for me may not work for you, but I hope it does.

Hope you enjoy your Goddard.
Tonie,

Of course. The fact that I own a grey and now burgundy means something already. One thing that bothers me about many modern knives (especially fixed blades) is a lack of a decent cross guard. The trend seems to wholly towards a finger choil or "faith and five finger" to prevent hand slippage during any sort of thrusting applications, or push cuts. Granted most knife work doesn't require "thrusting applications", but it is always good to keep the option. I carried a Police model for 14 years and risk of a thrust always bothered me (although I never needed to thrust with my knife  ). The Goddard protects very well for a thrust but also has a nice fat butt that tapers inwards to help with real knife pull cuts. You already know all this.

I'll try to enjoy it. :D
