WC vs EDC

At work I must abide by their rules, which for pocket knives are, "less than a 2" blade and the entire knife can be no more than 4 1/2 " long when fully open." (This is written into the company procedures, no less.)

In the evenings and on weekends I carry knives that are... somewhat larger.

How does your WC (weekend carry) knife vary from your EDC. I tend to carry a smaller knife at work, and haul out my larger knives for the weekend. I also tend to carry fancier knives on the weekend. How about the rest of you?
Since I work in an office environment during the week, I tend to carry smaller, pocketable knives like my Victorinox Ambasador, Case Peanut, or a small Laguiole.

On weekends or days off, I tend to go with medium sized pocket clip knives like the Spyderco Delica, Kershaw Leek or Benchmade Mini-Griptillian or I am going to be traipsing around the woods I may take an even larger folder like my Spyderco Military or Benchmade 9050.

My white collar, work edc's (at a high school) are either a Case amber bone peanut or a GEC buffalo horn Barlow. both are elegant, undisturbing to non-knife folk, and small enough to carry in a watch pocket or to ride comfortable in thin dress pants pockets. I also keep a multitool handy in the messenger bag I use as a briefcase, which is handy from time to time.

On my own time, I edc a Victorinox Spirit on my belt with a Buck Smidgen clipped next to it, or it shares an Adirondack pocket sheath with a Mini Canadian. Although I love and carry all different sorts of knives, nothing beats the sheer utility of a multitool for me.

Back when I was teaching I used to carry some pretty big folders. After the Columbine shooting the principal told everyone to stop carrying knives. The last couple of years I taught I carried a Gerber multitool on a belt sheath and she didn't seem to have a problem with it----wonder if she knew it had a knife blade?

I had to carry a lot of keys for the chemical storage area and science store room, so I bought one of those spring loaded keychain reels you wear on your belt. I discovered I could hide a big folder if I kept it clipped in my waistband behind my key reel. The clip looked like it was part of the reel.

My weekday carry consists of a Wenger Air Traveler. Yep, I'm in high school, so "real" knives are out.
I'll occasionally add a real knife during the week, and definitely one on Friday (or whenever the weekend starts.) Then I carry what I feel like.

Some of us have to work the occasional weekend, so the distinction is more workday/off-day than weekday/weekend.

Workdays, due to employer restrictions, it's just a Vic Classic on my keychain. Off days it's almost always a Kershaw Leek.

Just a couple of years ago I worked in a rural high school and I had this student (a farm kid) who wore a big ol' Buck 110 on his belt every day. He never caught any flak about it either. Of course the principal at the time was an avid outdoorsman who wanted to have a school rifle team (BOE said "no way"). I don't think that would fly in a suburban or urban school though.

I carry a custom slip joint anywhere I go. No changes, except for rare occastions where I take a custom tac folder.
