WD 40 Going Once, Going Twice ...

WD40 is basically kerosene with additives in a spray can
Yep...I never really cared for it as a "lubricant". Guess that comes from the 70's and 80's when I rode chain drive motorcylces. It was definitely taboo to use it on drive chains. The scoop was that it would dry out the rubber shock grommets. Guess cause it's like ZZJake said...kerosene.

But I do use it for gummy cleaning and then rinse it out well before I lube with something else. So, reading this thread reminded me that my 298GY is gummed up from Spam or whatever. Just squirted it. Will let it sit over night to disolve the crud, another blast or two in the AM with WD40 to "freshen" the disolved gunk up, run it under hot water, and then pop it in the oven on "warm" for half an hour to dry it. Serve with your favorite vegetable. Don't try this at home. I am a trained Pillock.

Hey ZZJake...good to see ya :)
