Hi Everybody,
So who else is loving these WD-5's ?
I am really liking everything so far.
below are pics of all 5 and some pics regarding sheaths.
so here is what I have found with the WD-5 series and kydex sheaths.
first with the Buffalo MUK ;
The Buffalo MUK fits perfectly in a regular WD-5 sheath. since the retention is on the handle.
to make a special sheath for Buffalo MUK, I would have to create a negative space for the larger front portion of the blade.
Or I would have to make and open spine version of the sheath.
Since it fits perfectly in the standard WD-5 That is the sheath I would recommend.
Second the WD-5 Fury
What I have found is I can make a Fury only sheath no problem.
It has been said that the WD-5 Stickleback will fit in a sheath made for the WD-5 Fury, and it will ......kind of.
On the Stickleback sheaths I make a taller negative space to allow for the saw-back portion of the stickleback so that it will not saw the spine of the sheath.
Having made several sheaths for sawback knives over the last 25 years it is a really good idea to have some space for the knife to go in and out of the sheath.
even leather sheaths can and will have the saw portion of the blade saw the spine of the sheath.
Will the WD-5 Fury fit in a WD-5 Stickleback sheath ? Yes very very nicely.
will a WD-5 Stickleback fit in a WD-5 Fury sheath ? yes....kind of, just be very careful while inserting the blade as to not saw the spine of the sheath.
So my recommendation would be;
If you have both a WD-5 Fury and a WD-5 Stickleback get a sheath specific to each one.
Or if you do not want two sheaths get a Buy Brown WD-5 stickleback sheath and it will fit both.
If you have one or the other get the matching Buy Brown sheath for the correct knife.
I hope this helps everyone.
